STIPENDS
The annual stipend for a first-year resident is $50,050.

TRANSITION ALLOWANCE
The relocation allowance of $750 is given to all incoming residents
.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION FUNDS
Residents are allocated $600 for the year that can be used to fund attendance at an approved medical meeting, purchasing textbooks, or purchasing educational software.
 

PAID VACATION
All residents receive three weeks of paid vacation per year.

HEALTH INSURANCE
An annual health insurance bonus that partially funds the cost of a single-coverage health and dental insurance premium is given to each resident. In addition, residents and their families, if covered by the hospitals' health insurance, are eligible to have post-insurance payment balances on medical bills paid through a fully funded medical spending account, if the medical expenses were incurred within the three hospitals.

LIFE INSURANCE
The program pays for group life insurance equal to the resident's annual stipend.

LIABILITY COVERAGE FOR RESIDENTS
General and professional liability coverage is provided for residents enrolled in the residency program through a combination of commercial insurance and self-insure retention. Coverages are not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $5,000,000 aggregate per policy year.

LONG TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE
Free long term disability insurance coverage is provided to residents effective on the date of employment. This ensures that residents will receive a minimum of 80% of their monthly salary if they are disabled due to illness or accident, on or off the job, following a 90-day qualifying period. This benefit is portable upon completion of the program.

TRAVEL INSURANCE
All residents receive travel insurance coverage while traveling on medical center business.

FREE PARKING
Residents may park in a reserved area of the medical center's enclosed parking ramp without charge.

MEALS
Residents are provided with meals at no charge in the medical center cafeteria.

LIBRARY SERVICES
Library services are provided free to residents, and include computerized literature searches, interlibrary loans and photocopying. Computerized literature searches are run by the librarians in a variety of databases, including Medline. PaperChase, a user-friendly computer program for do-it-yourself searching of the medical literature, is also available at no charge to residents. The library's photocopier is available around the clock, and residents may use it to make free copies from the library's books and journals. In addition, slide preparation services are also available for residents' formal didactic lectures.
